Rheumatology is a sub-speciality of Internal Medicine involving the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory diseases affecting the bodies connective tissues.  Although commonly thought of as a group of illnesses causing "arthritis" (inflammation of the joint lining), other organs may be involved due to a more systemic autoimmune process.  Therefore, the scope and types of diseases are many and vary in their clinical presentations as well as treatments.

 Dr. John Vansant treats each patient as a partner and makes patient education a central component of medical care.

Dr. John Vansant board certified in Internal Medicine, Nuclear Medicine, and Rheumatology currently practices Consultative Rheumatology in the Chestatee Medical Group.  His professional activities in Rheumatology have included various academic appointments, private practice, and served as former President of the Georgia Rheumatology Association.
